My main influence for The Universal Series was Paul Cezanne because of his struggle and obsession with representing a 3D picture onto a 2D surface.

The Universal Series
2022-2025
The Universal Series are oil paintings inspired by the Impressionists. I find that an almost Pointilist painting technique is ideal to portray this but with more irregular, looser expression of dabs of paint. I wanted to find a different way to portray distance and depth in a painting: like a rainbow revealing a prism of colours when the rain and sun combine, the painted lines catch the coloured light in the foreground. The lines work equally well with the geometry of the interiors of galleries and people's homes.
